A heartbreaking loss has left family, friends, and the community in mourning following the tragic death of Cory Hartman, 43, of Hampton, who died in a skiing accident on Saturday, March 28, 2026.

According to Vermont State Police, the incident occurred at Sugarbush Resort in Warren. Authorities were notified shortly after 3:25 p.m. that a skier had suffered a fatal fall on Stein’s Run, a double black diamond trail known for its difficulty.

Investigators determined that Hartman fell while skiing and slid off the trail into a wooded area. Ski patrol members located him unresponsive and transported him to the base of the mountain, where paramedics later pronounced him dead at the scene.
